Best Rose?
There are so many choices for rose so which one do you choose to mix in your frose? Before you reach for the stella rosa wine or yellow tail, let's try something a bit different. I always have rose on hand. Whether it is for mixing into my slush or entertaining friends in the summer, I always think of rose as the ultimate people pleaser. When the weather gets hot, this is my go-to chilled! So what am I stocking my wine racks with? Julia's Dazzle rose from Long Shadows.
Let me tell you a little bit about Long Shadows. It's out of Walla Walla, WA (my hometown) and I actually had a brief stint working at their tasting room to make ends meet as a hostess. I learned so much about wine because I would stand at the front of the tasting room and just listen to the attendants talk about the wine each and every weekend. My appreciation for the quality and craftsmanship within the Long Shadows series of wines is very high and I could probably give the spiel myself! The creator behind this wine is Long Shadow's director winemaking and viticulture, Gilles Nicault and this wine is named after the owner, Alan Schupe's granddaughter, Julia.
It's a very crisp and light but full of flavors. I'd call flavor notes (for me) include apples and floral scents. It's easy to mix in the frose because it is not overpowering or too sweet that would off-balance our frose mixture. So if you're looking for a decently priced, beautifully balanced rose, pick up Julia's Dazzle next time you are at the grocery store! I have found this before at the Albertson's Market Street market and I am sure you can ask any grocer to place a special order (a little trick I learned a while back!).
Give that bottle a try this weekend and let me know how it goes! I am always excited to introduce people to my favorite wines and slush mixes!
